About Amy

Maryland based artist, Amy Fix, is passionate about capturing her subject beyond physical likeness.  Each portrait is driven by the subject’s personality, energy, and individuality.  Her current body of work layers charcoal pencil with powdered, compressed, and vine charcoal to create tonal exploration and subtle mark-making.

Her favorite subjects range from farm animals and children to symbolic and literal portraits of story-filled houses.  Her current series, “Portraits of Home,” portrays meaningful floral arrangements that represent the places the artist has called home.

With a Master’s Degree in Fine Art, Amy has received several awards and scholarships, including the College of Graduate Studies Research and Travel Award and the Carolyn Joyner Memorial Scholarship.  She has been featured in the “Exploring the Arts” magazine at Georgia Southern University.  Amy exhibits nationally and has art in LaGrange Art Museum’s permanent collection.  She presently resides in Harford County with her husband and three-year old son.  Her art can be viewed at The Nest on Main and at the Harford Artist’s Gallery in Bel Air, MD.
